The next step....

This week we got a pleasent suprise when Alex joined us on Sunday and stayed for the whole ride.
She was a lot tired at the end but it was the longest ride she's done since her accident.
We need to get her up to speed safely but it was a big step forwards.
On the ride we managed to ride the fenced off Wobbly knee drop.
Thought we'd lost that for good but a little endeavour got us back on track with this little gem.
Inside the wooden rail, ride along the lip and then at the drop push hard up against the rail and turn in late.
You are going slow so hold that balance.
Let go of brakes and off the drop you plop.
Bob's your monkey.
Sorted.
Wass next?
Oh yes.
Chris's little drop.
Now. Where did I put my big boy's trousers??
:O)

Back to spinning for Alex.

Alex came spinning with us this Monday.
It was her first time in 5 months.
She managed to turn those pedals around for 30 mins or so and then did most of the floor exercises after that.
We all kept an eye on her but she seemed to be fine.
I asked her if her legs ached this morning (because mine did) and she said she felt fine.
I hate young people don't you?

Hey..I'm a sailor!

Well.....
What a great weeksnd we all had sailing on the Solent.
Got to Portsmouth Friday evening and had a lovely steak.
We threw the raw meat onto a BBQ grill that was built into the table and watched it (and smelled it) cook.
Slept on the boat that evening.
Saturday morning we had a safety brief from Chris and then set sail.
We stopped for lunch just off the Isle of Wright coast.
Hmmm.. pies and beans.
Then off to Cowes where we berthed for the night.
Sunday morning we went up river for a bit of fun steering the boat forwards and backwards in figures of 8.
The locals must have thought we were loopy.
Then out into the Solent again for a bit of full sail action.
All very exciting.
We want to do it all again ASAP.
Many thanks to Chris for the invite.
Had a great time.
More pictures on my photopic website.
Chris's pictures here.

This week Alex has had more physio and lowered the seat height on the excercise bike again.
She and Gill went out for a 20 min ride around the park.
Wey hey!....."Off Road!"
She remembered to wear padded shorts this time.
Tonight we are off to Portsmouth to jump on a sailing boat for the weekend.
Weather is looking good.

Alex's first ride.

Alex threw a leg over Pink bike on Saturday and rode around the block for 15 mins.
She had more fun than a week in Chamonix.
Well done to her and let's hope it's the start of a full recovery.
We want our riding buddy back soon.
:O)

This week I've been thinking....

I've been a bit unwell this week.
Nothing major. Just feel a bit queezy and generally not right.
So.........
I've done a lot of staring and thinking.
What do you think about when you have nothing much to think about?
My mind turns to new bike parts of course.
I'll list what I have thought about:
Disc brakes and new wheels for Little Bike.
(I'm fed-up with the Maggy Hydraulic rim brakes rubbing all the time)
Chain device for the Big Hitter.
(Took the old one off cos it didn't work with a smaller chainring)
Wider bars for the Hitter.
(It has short bars on it from my old Rockhopper)
Chris King headset for the Rocky Ridge.
(Needs a new headset but at £100!!!)
New saddle for the Rocky Ridge.
(Am using a slightly broken one at the moment. Heavy landings and all that)

If I did all that it would cost £500 or more.
Trouble is I can use any of my bikes right now without spending a penny so how can I justify buying anything?

IT WILL MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!
So there is something good about feeling poorly.
:O)
Damn!! I'm feeling better already.

Could be an important weekend.

This Saturday morning we will get the Pink Stiffee out of mothballs.
Go up high with the saddle.
Then perch Alex on top and see if she can get the pedals all the way around on that puppy.
Hopefully she will be able.
Plan B (if she can't) will be to put her on my marin.
One way or another we will get her on a gentle ride.

Chamonix 2006 The Movie.

Well the Chamonix 2006 movie is finished and we are going over to Chris's this friday to have a Premiere on the big screen.

Welcome to Delbert's Secret Blog.

Well..........
Here we are with a blank canvas.
What to do with it?
What I think I will do is to log the progress of Alex as she recovers from her nasty knee injury.
Also.
I would like to log my own progress as I learn to ride a bike.
This may take some time!
Any other ideas?
Let me know.
(no one ever does you know).
